Spatially Fractionated Radiotherapy: From Physics to Clinical Translation
05 November 2026, 17:00 – 18:00 CET/GMT+1
Spatially Fractionated Radiotherapy (SFRT) is a rapidly evolving field with growing interest across the radiotherapy community. As research continues to advance, a deeper understanding of the underlying physics, clinical evidence, and practical challenges is essential to support the transition of SFRT from innovative approaches towards broader clinical implementation.
This webinar will provide an overview of the current state of SFRT, bringing together key perspectives from both the physics and clinical fields. Speakers will discuss the latest developments, remaining challenges, and future directions shaping the role of GRID and Lattice radiotherapy in modern cancer treatment.
Heng Li will present the key conclusions of the ESTRO SFRT Physics Workshop, discussing the physics behind GRID and Lattice radiotherapy, as well as the main physics-related challenges and knowledge gaps identified by the expert group.
Waleed Mourad, MD, will provide a clinical perspective on SFRT, covering current clinical indications, available outcomes from GRID and Lattice radiotherapy, and an overview of relevant ongoing clinical trials. The session will also explore the next steps needed to advance SFRT towards prospective clinical studies and broader clinical implementation.
This webinar will provide participants with a concise overview of where the field stands today and the key priorities shaping the future of SFRT research and clinical practice.
