The central theme of the webinar will be the continuing need for robust and widely accepted protocols. Despite more than a decade of intense research and development in FLASH radiotherapy, several aspects of dosimetric and metrological standardization still need to be fully consolidated. In this context, the webinar will focus on the current status and future perspectives of dosimetric protocols and guidelines from a metrological perspective. While a broad range of detector technologies is now available, the time has come to provide clear recommendations on which detectors should be used, under which conditions, and how they should be implemented to support the transition of FLASH radiotherapy into routine clinical practice.

Malcolm McEwen will provide the international perspective, given his involvement in the AAPM Task Group 359 Report. Anna Subiel will present the European perspective, drawing on her many years of involvement in European dosimetry initiatives and EURAMET metrology projects for ultra-high dose rates. Furthermore, given her participation also in Task Group 359, she would be in the position to highlight the connections between these initiatives and to discuss the key challenges and gaps that still need to be addressed.
